Tips On How To Make A Red, White And Blue Jello Poke Cake
If you want a truly vibrant white cake, use only egg whites when making the white cake mix. The yellow color from the yolks will tint your cake yellowish.
If you don't have a wooden spoon handle, you can use a skewer or even a straw.
Chill the cake for several hours or overnight to let the Jello set up.
Poking holes further apart will let more of the white cake show. It will also make it easier to pour in the Jello.
It can be difficult pouring the Jello into the holes. Using squirt bottles makes it a little easier.
Pro tip: Don't
fill your squirt bottles with a lot of Jello mixture. The fuller your squirt bottle, the harder it is to
accurately fill the holes in the cake.
Substitutions
You can change up the recipe by using different colors and flavors of Jello.
This cake is also great topped with fresh fruit such as blueberries, cherries or even sliced strawberries.
