4th of July Trifle



Ingredients:

  • 2, 8 ounce packages of cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 2 cups confectioners sugar
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 cups Cool Whip
  • 1 Angel Food cake (store bought or you can make your own)
  • 4 cups sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract
  • 4 cups blueberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon almond extract

Directions

In a mixing bowl, add cream cheese and confectioners sugar.

Cream together.

Then add sour cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract.

Mix together until well combined.

Then add Cool Whip and mix together.

Tear up an Angel Food cake into bite-sized pieces.

Place into the cream cheese mixture and stir together by hand.

Clean and slice enough strawberries to make 4 cups.

In a bowl, add strawberries, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon almond extract.

Stir together until well combined.

Clean 4 cups of blueberries.

In another bowl, add blueberries, 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon almond extract.

Stir together until well combined.

Take a clear, glass bowl and add a layer of the cream cheese mixture.

Then add a layer of blueberries.

Add another layer of the cream cheese mixture.

Then add a layer of strawberries.

Repeat if necessary and be sure to end with a layer of cream cheese mixture top.

Decorate the top with extra blueberries and strawberries.

Chill in the refrigerator for a few hours before serving.
