This Authentic Greek Hot Dog Sauce is a richly seasoned, Coney Island-style sauce made with ground sirloin or ground beef, tomato sauce, onion, and a flavorful combination of spices.

This recipe was shared with me by Tony, a viewer of my YouTube channel. Tony told me that he originally received the recipe from a Greek family, which is how it got its name.

I've tried a lot of hot dog sauces over the years, including homemade versions, store-bought sauces, and sauces from restaurants, and this one is my absolute favorite!

It's not the quickest sauce to make, with quite a few spices and a few extra steps, but I think it's well worth the effort. And one of my favorite things about making it is the wonderful aroma that fills the kitchen as it simmers. All those spices smell absolutely amazing together!

A special thank-you to Tony for sharing this delicious recipe!

Tips for Making Hot Dog Sauce

Choose your beef: The original recipe allows ground sirloin or ground beef.

Allow the sauce to simmer: Cook the tomato and spice mixture for 30 minutes as directed.

Blend hot sauce safely: Allow it to cool sufficiently and follow the blender manufacturer’s instructions for hot liquids.

Make-Ahead & Freezing: This sauce tastes even better the next day as the spices continue to meld. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days, or freeze in freezer-safe bags or container for up to 3 months.
