Chocolate Covered Cherries
Ingredients:
- maraschino cherries, drained
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup margarine, melted
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- pinch of salt
- dipping chocolate
Directions
- Line a cookie sheet with wax paper. Set aside.
- Drain and dry maraschino cherries. Set aside.
- In a bowl, add powdered sugar, margarine, sweetened condensed milk, vanilla and salt.
- Mix together until well combined.
- Texture should have the consistency of play-dough. If it is sticky, add a little more powdered sugar.
- Take 1 to 2 teaspoons of the mixture and flatten it into a circle.
- Wrap it around a cherry.
- Place onto your prepared cookie sheet.
- Repeat until you have used all of your mixture.
- Place into your freezer for 1 hour.
- In a microwave safe cup or bowl, melt some dipping chocolate.
- Dip a cherry into the melted chocolate until evenly covered.
- Place dipped cherry back onto the cookie sheet.
- Repeat until you have coated all of the cherries.
- Chill in refrigerator until the chocolate sets up.
- Be sure to store these in an air tight container in the refrigerator.
