Baked Mac and Cheese


This easy macaroni and cheese recipe turns out rich and creamy.




Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces dry elbow macaroni, cooked according to package directions and drained.
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions. Drain the macaroni and then set aside.
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
Take a 2 quart casserole dish and spray it with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a saucepan, add butter.
Melt over medium heat.
Then add flour, salt, dry mustard and pepper.
Stir together until smooth.
Gradually stir in milk.
Stir constantly until mixture thickens (approximately 10 minutes).
Remove from heat.
Add 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
Stir until cheese is melted.
Pour in your cooked macaroni.
Stir together until well combined.
Pour the mixture into your prepared dish.
Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheese on top.
Bake in the oven for approximately 25 minutes or until lightly browned.
