Double dipped pretzel rods are a sweet and salty treat that is fun to make!
Ingredients:
20 to 30 pretzel rods
14 ounce bag of caramels, unwrapped
2 tablespoons of milk
1 bag of chocolate candy melts (you may also use almond bark or chocolate chips)
sprinkles, mini M&M's, crushed Heath bars, etc (optional, for decorating)
Directions:
Unwrap caramels and place into a microwave safe bowl.
Add milk and microwave for 2 to 3 minutes, or until melted. After each minute, check on it and stir.
Once melted, place mixture into a coffee mug to make dipping easier.
Dip each pretzel rod into melted caramel. Cover anywhere from 1/2 to 3/4 of the pretzel.
Place dipped pretzel onto parchment paper to let cool and set up.
In another microwave safe bowl, add chocolate candy melts and microwave for 2 - 3 minutes, or until melted. Check on it every 30 seconds or so and stir.
Once melted, transfer mixture to a coffee mug.
Dip your caramel coated pretzels into the melted chocolate.
Decorate with sprinkles, mini M&M's, crushed Heath Bars or whatever you like.
Lay pretzel rods on parchment paper to let the chocolate harden.
You can wrap these in Saran Wrap or pretzel bags to store or to give as gifts.
