Tips and Tricks On How To Make Turkey Cranberry Pinwheels

  • Softening Cream Cheese: If your cream cheese is too hard, you can soften it quickly by microwaving it for about 10-15 seconds. Make sure it's soft enough to mix easily with the cranberry sauce and honey.
  • Rolling Technique: For best results, roll the tortillas as tightly as possible. This ensures that the ingredients stay in place and the pinwheels look neat and tidy when sliced.
  • Chilling Time: Don't skip the chilling step! It helps the cream cheese mixture firm up, making it easier to slice the pinwheels without them falling apart.

Additions and Substitutions

  • Lettuce: Feel free to use other types of lettuce like romaine, green leaf lettuce, or even swap it for spinach or shredded kale for an extra nutritional boost.
  • Cheese: Try different cheeses like Swiss, cheddar, or Havarti for a new flavor twist.
  • Turkey: If you have leftover turkey from Thanksgiving, you can use it instead of deli meat. But if you're not a fan of turkey, cooked chicken, ham or roast beef are excellent alternatives.
  • Go Veggie: Skip the meat and load up on roasted vegetables like zucchini, bell peppers, and mushrooms.
  • Cranberry Sauce: If you prefer, you can use raspberry preserves or a dollop of orange marmalade for a fun twist.
  • Honey: Maple syrup or agave syrup can be used instead of honey for a different kind of sweetness.
  • Flour Tortillas: Use large (10-inch) tortillas to make rolling easier and ensure you get plenty of filling in each bite. Whole wheat or spinach tortillas add a fun color and boost of nutrition! You can also use lavash bread instead.
  • Add Some Crunch: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the cranberry spread for a nutty twist.
  • Spice It Up: Mix a pinch of cayenne or a dash of hot sauce into the cream cheese spread for a kick.
